1954 Facts

It was 1954 when Rock And Roll hit the music scene. It was the time when things began to change.

On April 12  Bill Haley & His Comets recorded "Rock Around the Clock" in New York City and kicked loose what became an avalanche not to be stopped.

On May 14  another great success story came into existence. The Boeing 707 was released after about two years of development. It was to revolutionize air traffic profoundly,  narrowing the gaps between continents, between the Old and the New World.

On July 7, radio station WHBQ in Memphis, Tennessee became the first radio station to air an Elvis Presley record.
